Hey everybody, for those of you that have never met me I'm Eddie. I'm the trail manager for Mountain Bike Lafayette. Today I started construction on the newest part of the trail. If your familiar with the map it would be the blue line right after Falcor. This new trail looks like it will be a very cool addition to our system so far and of corse the best part is more trails, Yay! In the coming weeks we will have trail days to help make things happen quicker than if I do it myself. Any help would be appreciated on those days. However I will be going out a lot on regular days to do the work. If you have free time and want to help please message me here and we can figure something out.
Just one last thing. While we do this new construction it needs to be supervised by somebody from Mountain Bike Lafayette. Either Chris Baker, Chris Killian, or me. I'm excited about this new section. It promises to be very cool.

I second this. The route for the "blue" sections of new trails has all been flagged, so it's just a matter of cutting and clearing the trails. If anyone has free time to donate and wants to help out, just let us know. There's no need to wait for an "official" trail day to go help.

Thanks for the offer shnev. We could definitely use any and all volunteers to get the entire trail loop finished.

Today Rachel Keith and I went out and got a lot more done on the new construction. We will be back out there from 8 to probably noon or so tomorrow. If anyone wants to help during that time they are more than welcome.
We got a pretty good chunk cleared. Rachel was so much help. She expressed the opinion that no matter how much you appreciate the trail system we have made you don't really grasp the amount of work until you help cut a new section. I must say I agree.
Our founder is a geologist. He marks the trails in a very well thought out way to maxamize use and minimize impact. That being said, there is no trail to start with. People have to clear the entire thing, and none of it is easy.
So I want to thank Rachel for putting in a tough day today. We got so much farther then I would have by myself.

Tomorrow, Tuesday August 19th Rachel Keith and I will be back out to continue working on the new trail. It has a working name now. We're calling it LARP. So anyway, anyone that wants to come help us from 8am to about noon or 1 I will buy you lunch. Probably pizza from Pizza Time on Moss St.
Please respond here or facebook if you plan to come.

Despite the offer of free pizza it was still just me and Rachel today. That was ok though because we got a lot done. I must say that the girl can work!
She can keep up with me when it comes to pizza and beer as well so that was a cool bonus.

At the end of Falcor is the beginning to our new trail. It's called LARP and while it's not fit to ride if you wish your welcome to walk it and check out the progress your welcome to give it a look.
